Happy New Year 2007!

Unravel the foil lip off of the tapered end of a bottle of bubbly and pop the tight, spongy, vacuum-packed cork to celebrate the beginning of a wonderful new year!

I celebrated the beginning of 2007 (and the end of 2006) simply: with my closest friend and warm, freshly baked bread (savory olive bread and sweet panettone--a tall, fluffy Italian bread eaten during the holidays and made with dried fruits, citrus rind, and toasted nuts) from the local bakery. Add herbed water crackers, thin slices of salty summer sausage, a thick wedge of brie, a full cluster of juicy grapes, and a plate filled to the edges with crisp, bite-sized crudité (baby carrots, sugar snap peas, and broccoli florets), and you're ready to usher in the new year as I did--the simple way!

I hope you had a wonderful New Year's celebration with your friends and family!

Also, a note to my loyal readers and friends: thank you for encouraging me and for visiting Passionate Eater this past year, and I hope to hear more from you and that you'll continue to tune in during 2007 for more passionate eating!

  1. Happy New Year, PE. Looking forward to reading your posts this year! :)

That's Jac's kind of meal, sausage (any kind of cold meat really), crackers, cheese and crudites!
    That sausage looks really gooood.
I've never had panettone - it's something I keep meaning to try though.

  8. I recently visited SF from the culinary desert that is rice-and-beans land (Dominican Republic). I gorged for 6 days whilst visiting family, and now have live on rice and beans for another 4 months before heading back to food civilisation.

I am not sure if your blog will keep my taste buds alive and my sanity, or if the jealousy will drive me over the edge into madness.

Thank you for your continued friendship and for your welcome encouragement in my blogging. I am excited about this upcoming year, and all of the new posts you'll be putting on all of your blogs! You are not only great friends, but inspire me through your photos, writing, and talent! Here's to us and another year in 2007!

Thank you for your generous compliments Raymond! I hope that my blog can give you a taste of San Francisco and bring you back to the Bay Area with repeated trips down memory lane!

It is an honor to be added onto your fave list Erica! Thank you for visiting and I hope to see you back soon! (As you can see, I definitely love food too!)

Seasoned rice and beans when done right can be the better than what is available here in San Francisco George Holmes! I hope you'll be sharing some Dominican Republic recipes and dishes that will inspire my own taste buds, while simultaneously keeping your's rejuvenated and spunky!

Hi there Niceville or the "Southern Passionate Eater!" Of course you have my permission to link to my site! It is a privilege to be linked to by your blog.
